Biography

Otto Wagner was born on the 13th July 1841 in Vienna.
His father died when he was 5 years old. In 1850 he visited during two years the Vienna academic high school. He studied from 1857-1862 in the polytechnic institute of structual design and later in the academy of visual arts by August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll. Before he became an architect, he was among other things a wall apprentice. Otto Wagner designed famous buildings, but many of his projects were never realised. Otto Wagner had two sons with Sophia Paupie, but he wasn´t married with her.Therefor, he adopted his two sons. Afterwards Otto Wagner was married twice, his first marriage happened under the pressure of his mother. In the first marriage with Josephine Domhart he had two daughters. In the second marriage with Louise Stiffel he had a son and two daughters. On the 11th April, 1918 Otto Wagner died at the age of 77 years.
